At Notable Notaries, we began to offer electronic notarisation and electronic apostilles (e-notarisation and e-apostilles) as soon as the e-apostille service was fully made available to the public in 2022. We have been regularly obtaining e-apostilles for clients since then.

Whilst we have always provided scans of our paper-notarised and paper-apostilled documents, e-notarisation and e-apostilles provide a great improvement in the security of electronic documents, as these bear qualified electronic signatures (QES).

What’s New

  • Previously, most requests we received to e-apostille documents were for documents that were not possible to e-apostille directly.  This meant that we needed to e-notarise the document first.

Electronic apostilles can be completed quickly, at most within a couple of days and on average, within a few hours of submission.

Who is Affected

  • The majority of documents will still need to be e-notarised before they can be e-apostilled, for example documents where a signature needs to be certified or degree certificates.  Certain documents issued in the electronic form bearing a QES signature from a  UK Government body may be possible to e-apostille directly.  Please send us your document for us to check with the legalisation office.

It is important to first check with the institution which will be receiving the e-apostilled document that they accept e-apostilles from the United Kingdom.

More options, more flexibility for clients

Upon receipt of the document we will check with the legalisation office if it can be e-apostilled directly and provide the options to the client.  If not, we are experienced in carrying out the necessary verifications to be able to e-notarise a great variety of different documents so that these can be e-apostilled. For clients who are more comfortable with face-to-face meetings and paper documents, this always remains an option as well.  For more information please contact us on +44(0)2079521100 or [email protected]
